On Ken Blanchard’s Employee Work Passion…

Engaged Measurement

I just want to say “right on,” to the authors of the Employee Work Passion paper (or at least volume 3, I haven’t gotten to volumes 1,2 and 4, yet). Thanks to Drea Zigarmi, Dobie Houson, David Witt and Jim Diehl for thinking about the level of engagement for those already engaged. We need more granularity! The current Gallup scale would have organizations measuring and believing that “engaged” is good enough. I like the notion that this can be improved upon.

Having recently gone through the Gallup Q12 myself, I also realized that it doesn’t include any measurement of how connected you feel to your leadership. I believe this is a crucial factor when you are measuring willingness to promote and advertise a company versus a desire to just get work done.

I have felt the difference and I will apply my discretionary efforts for a company and their leadership in order to ignite passion in others. I have worn the company t-shirt, proudly! Build relationships and connect to Leaders – that’s the stuff the best companies are made of!

I recommend you check out this edition of Employee Work Passion for yourself. It’s a quick read, and well worth the time!
